Drop privacy
Drop is a free, non-commercial tool run by Michal Szyszka (Quietside). Questions or deletion requests: contact@quietside.co.uk.
What is stored
- What you put on a board: text, links, images and files.
- A cookie that keeps your device connected to your board. It is needed for Drop to work and is not used for tracking.
- Your IP address, scrambled, when you start a board, to limit how many can be made.
- Your IP address after a wrong code, to stop guessing. It is deleted within two days.
How long it stays
Drop keeps nothing long term. Cards disappear from your board after 24 hours and are permanently deleted within 48 hours. Logging out on any device deletes the board and everything on it straight away. A board unused for 31 days is deleted.
Who can see it
Anyone connected to your board can see and delete its cards, so only share a code with devices you trust. A code lasts two minutes and works once.
Cards are not end-to-end encrypted. Don't use Drop for passwords, bank details or anything sensitive.
Who handles it
Drop runs on Vercel (website) and Supabase (storage and live updates). The page also loads one code library from esm.sh, which sees your IP address when it does. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Your rights
You can delete any card yourself at any time, and logging out deletes the whole board. You can also ask for access to your data or for it to be deleted, using the email above, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
